Overflow: A Maximalist + Mixed Media Art Exhibition

Join us for a night of unapologetic creativity at Overflow, where boundaries are pushed and art embraces chaos! This exhibition features a diverse lineup of artists presenting paintings, soft sculptures, ceramics, fashion, and more—all with a maximalist approach.

Overflow represents the essence of maximalism—an art movement that rejects conformity and embraces excess. 

The curator, Hannah Yost, prides themselves in creating work that emphasises breaking out of the boxes we're told to fit into, letting creativity spill over the edges, and rejecting the notion that art, or self-expression, needs to be toned down.

The artists featured in this exhibition embody this spirit, filling every canvas, sculpture, and garment with intricate layers, bold textures, and striking colors, creating a sense of "too much" that’s just right.

At Overflow, more is more—and we’re here to celebrate that. 

The evening will include an artist talk panel at 7:30pm, where you'll gain insights into the minds of the creators and their fearless approaches to mixed media.

Hosted by MAMA WEST Creative Space in Footscray, this alcohol-free event will provide a welcoming atmosphere where the art is loud but the event is sensory friendly.
